Link ad essentials
The 5 parts of a link ad

There are 5 elements that make up an effective link ad. When combined, they all work together to engage potential customers.

Image: The images you choose have a big impact on how people respond to your ads, particularly in News Feed
Headline: A good headline grabs people’s attention, but also tells them what the ad is about
Text: Tell people a bit more about your URL. Make sure to clearly explain what you’re promoting.
Call to action: Include a call-to-action button to tell people what you'd like them to do. There are 5 to choose from: Shop Now, Book Now, Learn More, Sign Up and Download
News Feed link description: Tell your customers where they're clicking to and what to expect once they get there

Best practices
Make clicking easy

Every part of a link ad is clickable, including the image, ad text and call-to-action button, and can be shown in News Feed on desktop and mobile devices. Since people visit News Feed 14x a day on average, link ads help attract more people to your site.

Use high-quality, bright images showcasing your products or services. Our image finder is an easy way to use free, professional-quality stock images.
Use a short, clear headline that provides context into the image you've selected
Choose where on your website to send people who click, such as a product page. Include a time prompt when appropriate, like "free shipping today only."
Include an announcement or discount offer in the description text to inspire clicks

Preview your ad

When you create ads, they’ll be shown in different placements on Facebook based on your advertising goals. Your ad may look slightly different depending on where customers view your ad.

The Ad Preview and Placement section in the ads create tool can show you how your ad will look in:

Desktop News Feed
Mobile News Feed
Right Column
You'll see the preview on the right side of the screen. If you don’t want to see your ad shown in one of the placements, simply click Remove on the top-right of the ad preview.

For your link ad to show best in all ad placements, use the following guidelines:
