Confederation Cup : FC Ifeanyi Ubah stake everything for victory over Al-Masry
The die is cast and the battle line drawn as Al- Masry of Egypt host Nigeria’s FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup, first round preliminary.
The Anambra Warriors go into the match today with a 1 -0 advantage from the first leg in Nnewi last Sunday.
It is expected that the Egyptians would throw in all they have in an attempt to deny FC Ifeanyi Ubah, the ticket to the next round of the competition. But they would be surprised as they may get more than they bargain from the Warriors who have been in Egypt since on Thursday, acclimatizing and fine tuning their strategies for the crucial game.
Al-Masry would meet a different FC Ifeanyi Ubah squad from the team that beat them with a slim 1-0 win in Nnewi, as aside tactical changes, the Anambra Warriors are turbocharged for the match at the Ismailia stadium. Kick-off is 6pm (Nigerian time)
The battle cry in the Warriors’ Tolip Hotel camp is: “It is a win or nothing else”.
President of the club, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who is leading the support base for the team has challenged players to beat their opponent in their home, urging them to dominate and shake their opponents’ net with goals as they did in the first leg at the Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium, Nnewi/Ozubulu.
He expressed confident that the players will stand strong on the pitch despite the cold weather in Cairo.
“If they can come to our home and play under our hot weather condition, we can also play in their cold region and defeat
them.
“Everybody knows that from the first leg, you are a better side and we expect you to beat them here,” he said.
Dr. Ubah also pointed that his presence is a rallying factor that should inspire the team. “I have denied myself all luxury just to be with you
people
“I am here to turbocharge you guys to glory. So, go and do us proud by defeating Al-Masry at Ismaila on Sunday,” he
said.
