Police arrest fake Emir of Kano
KANO—A 20-year-old man, identified as Sultan
Bello, has been arrested by the Kano State
Police Command for allegedly impersonating
the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer
DSP Magaji Majia, in a telephone interview with
Vanguard, said the suspect operated a fake
Instagram page as the Emir.

DSP Majia revealed that the suspect was
arrested, following a written complaint by a
woman (name withheld) over his suspicious
activities.
He said the suspect was arrested on
Tuesday at Ja’oji quarters in Kano metropolis,
after he had defrauded many innocent people,
while acting as the emir.
Magaji also said the command is currently
investigating and interrogating the suspect and
that he is cooperating with the Police, noting
that he will be charge to court subsequently.
He disclosed that the fake emir has over 20,000
followers on the closed Instagram page, and so
far he has such account of seven personalities.
Majia further revealed that the suspect
admitted that he has been impersonating the
emir on social media and had defrauded
unsuspecting followers to the tune of N3 million
before he ran out of luck.
He assured that the suspect will be charged to
court as soon as investigation on the high
profile crime is complete
